About Michelle

My step-son, his mom, and me when he was a student, I the PTA President, and his mom a teacher,  at Welchester Elementary.

MEet my big, beautiful, blended family

I have three children, a junior at Golden High School, a third grader at Stober Elementary School, and a 3 year old just beginning her career in a district preschool. My oldest is my step-son, and I have the good fortune of becoming close friends with his mom, who is a kindergarten teacher at Welchester Elementary.  Through our friendship she has shared first hand the joys and challenges of being a teacher.  I am the current PTA President at Stober Elementary, and also served as the PTA president for 4 years at Welchester Elementary.  In both roles I work closely with the teachers, administrators, staff, and families to provide resources and support.  I am working closely with our principal to build strategies to welcome new families and teachers to our school after closures in the district.

Professional

I originally came to Jefferson County to attend the Colorado School of Mines, where I earned degrees in metallurgical engineering, economics, and public affairs.  I quickly learned that I love working in the squishy space where science, people and policy come together and built a career in regulatory and legislative affairs. Now I lead a domestic public policy group for a company that measures and reduces methane emissions in oil and gas production. I collaborate across the aisle every day and advocate for reasonable energy policy that ensure the long term success of our economy while protecting our environment.

I  am passionate about supporting women in STEM fields.  I was the first female Student Body President at the Colorado School of Mines and recently received the 2022 Forces of Mines Award.

Service to the Community

"Fight for the things you care about, but do it in a way that will lead others to join you" - Ruth Bader Ginsberg

I believe that we must give back to our communities and teach our next generation about philanthropy and service.  I have a passion for women in the fields of STEM and arts in schools.  I have served on several boards and organizations where I have worked in policy governance, and seen the benefits of education, experience, exposure to art and science for our kids.  I have served on the Golden Schools Foundation Board, STEM Generations, the Botanic Gardens Chatfield Strategic Planning Committee, and currently sit as the Co-Chair of the Colorado Ballet.  I have been the PTA President and Cub Scout Executive Committee leader for both of my boys. In addition, I actively support, volunteer, and participate in organizations such as the Nathan Yip Foundation, the Denver Zoo, Judi's House, Children's Hospital of Colorado, and the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce Leadership Denver Program.
